Cookie Policy

We use cookies and similar storage to keep you signed in, remember display preferences, and (if analytics loads) understand whether the product is breaking. We do not run advertising cookies. We do not sell data.
1. What we mean by cookies
Cookies are small files a site stores in your browser. We also use related storage such as localStorage and sessionStorage for the same jobs: session, preferences, and a flag so we don’t throw you back into the demo after you ask for the sign-in screen.
2. Strictly necessary
These are required for the service to work. You cannot opt out of them and still use a signed-in ledger.
- Authentication: Firebase Auth session cookies / tokens so you stay signed in.
- Security: idle lock and sign-out timers; CSRF-adjacent session state managed by Firebase.
- Load balancer / hosting: Firebase Hosting may set a short-lived cookie to route traffic.
- Guest vs login choice: a session flag (
al_show_login) so choosing Sign in does not auto-open the demo.
3. Preferences (first-party storage)
When you use the app we store display style, ambient motion, active ledger (Personal / Business), safety buffer, and similar settings locally and, if you have an account, in Firestore. That is product state, not advertising profile.
4. Analytics (optional / blocked by many browsers)
We load Firebase Analytics and Performance in the app so we can see crashes and which screens fail. These may set Google cookies (for example _ga-style identifiers) if they are not blocked. They are not used to retarget you with ads. Ad blockers often prevent this code from loading; the ledger still works.
5. Third parties
- Firebase / Google: auth, database, optional analytics. See Firebase privacy.
- Plaid: only if you connect a bank. Plaid’s interface is their own. plaid.com/legal.
- Stripe: only if you start a paid plan. stripe.com/privacy.
- Fonts: we load Cinzel, Jost, and Syne from Google Fonts. Google may receive your IP for that request.
6. Demo / guest mode
The live demo does not create an account. Sample books live in memory for that visit. We do not persist guest edits. Closing the tab ends the demo.
7. How to control cookies
Use your browser settings to block or delete cookies. Blocking all cookies will prevent sign-in. You can use the product without analytics (many browsers already block it) and without Plaid or Stripe if you never connect a bank or subscribe.
8. Do Not Sell
We do not sell personal information. We do not use cookies for cross-context behavioral advertising. If you are a California resident, see the CCPA section in our Privacy Policy.
9. Changes
We will update this page if our cookie use changes in a material way. Continued use after an update means you accept the new policy.
